Winecellar at Martoccia di Brunelli

We have been looking forward with great anticipation to the two most recent vintages of Brunello di Montalcino at Martoccia di Brunelli. And with good reason. 2015 and 2016 can be ranked among the best years since 2010.

Whereas the Brunello 2015 is already beautifully balanced and has a silky structure, the Brunello 2016 is currently powerful, energetic with pleasant acidity and firm tannins. Two magnificent wines whereby the 2015 is already nicely ready to drink and the 2016 has great storage potential.

We also present the Rosso di Montalcino 2018. The little brother/sister of Brunello is also produced from the Sangiovese grape.  The 2018 is characterised as a cooler vintage that produced very aromatic, fresh, delicate wines. This Rosso is a fine example of that.

Furthermore, we also present the 2019 Poggio Apricale. 2019 was a warmer year with ideal conditions during the harvest period (the Brunello consorzio already awarded 5 stars to vintage 2019 so expectations will be high for Brunello). The Poggio Apricale which is a blend of Sangiovese, Merlot and Colorino originating from the Montecucco region is, as always, a particularly pleasant, smooth drinking wine.
