Le Bertille

The Le Bertille Estate Farm is 2 kilometres from Montepulciano, and is made up of two farms, the Bertille and the Casella farm, which are in all 20 hectares. The body of land planted with vines is about fourteen hectares, while the rest of the property is sub-divided between olive trees, an artificial lake and ground ready for new planting. Azienda Le Bertille is still a family-owned wine estate run by Saverio Roberti and his 2 daughters. The eldest Olimpia, the cellar master, who once she had finished her studies and became a lawyer decided to go into the wine business. The eldest grapevines ( 70 years-old)  are situated around the family estate. Planting new vines in the present family estate nearby  Montepulciano started in 2002. The vineyards are situated at around 350- 450 meters above sea level and are oriented north-east south-west, which results in the fact that they are always being ventilated. The soil which consists of loam, clay and sand is extremely suitable for growing the typical grape in the area of Montepulciano, de Prugnolo Gentile (Sangiovese clone). This is how the Rosso di Montepulciano and the Vino Nobile di Montepulciano get their typical  spiciness and pleasant acidity. Approximately 60.000 bottles are produced on this domain.
